Tenure-Track Position in the Department of Philosophy
The Department of Philosophy at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer beginning fall of 2013. The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Philosophy prior to appointment. The areas of specialization and competence are open. The Department, however, will also take into consideration its own research and teaching interests, as well as its need to diversify its curriculum. The language of instruction at Ben-Gurion University is Hebrew; hence, the ability to teach in Hebrew is mandatory.

The Department of Philosophy is seeking applicants for a Lectureship in early modern philosophy (Descartes to Hume). The person appointed will be expected to teach junior and senior level courses in these areas, as well as offer supervision at Honours and Postgraduate level.
Essential criteria are a PhD in a relevant area of philosophy; a strong demonstrated interest in and commitment to developing high quality teaching programs in philosophy; the ability to supervise Honours and Postgraduate research students; and demonstrated potential or excellence in research in the relevant areas. Also essential are competency in administrative skills relevant to a university environment, and the personal qualities required to work well with a diverse group of colleagues.
The position is full-time continuing, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation and confirmation period for new appointees. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment.
Remuneration package (Lecturer, Level B): a competitive remuneration package of $104,644 to $124,263 p.a. is available (which includes a base salary $88,426 to $105,004 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).

Massey University is New Zealand's defining university. The Manawatu Campus, where this position is located, has a rich research and teaching tradition in relation to the land, natural resources and the environment. Politics is a key social science programme within the School of People, Environment and Planning which has a presence on the Manawatu and Albany campuses.
The appointee will possess, or will have very nearly completed, a relevant doctorate and will have relevant research and teaching expertise in Politics. In particular, the appointee will have expertise in political theory or political philosophy and, ideally, in an applied research area that connects with the research strands of the Politics programme and/or the School of People, Environment and Planning more generally.
The appointee will develop and teach, both internally and extramurally, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and provide supervision at Masterate and PhD level. Teaching will primarily be conducted on the Palmerston North campus, and there is a strong distance education programme.
