This is a full-time unlimited position in philosophy starting August, 2012.

Responsibilities include:
Teaching courses in Philosophy, including Ethics and Introduction to Philosophy and, depending on area of study, Logic, Environmental Ethics, Asian Philosophy, Critical Thinking and Social Ethics.
Participating in and leading review and implementation of curriculum within our AA with Emphasis in Philosophy program in a consensus-driven department
Participating in student assessment and departmental meetings
Participating actively in the college community through committee work, inter-departmental collaboration and campus events

Qualifications:
Master’s degree with a major in Philosophy or Master’s degree with 16 graduate semester (24 graduate quarter) credits in a field that would apply to the major required. In addition, candidates with one or more of the following qualifications are eagerly sought:

Ph.D.
Community College Experience— two or more years’ teaching experience in a community or combined community and technical college
Multicultural/Cross-cultural Texts— two or more years of classroom teaching experience and/or significant graduate level coursework in multicultural philosophical theories, pedagogies and settings
Assessment— demonstrated experience with the development of assessment strategies and practices across classroom, department, and college levels
Service Learning/Civic Engagement/Social Responsibility— documented experience with service learning/public work/social responsibility practices in the classroom
Autonomous classroom teaching experience (2+ years)
Demonstrated commitment to the academic needs of non-traditional students, including non-native speakers of English, older students, students with disabilities, and first-generation college students

Salary: $33,500 - $68,500
